Mark Granovetter’s classic research on “weak ties” — acquaintances who open unexpected doors — still holds true. I’ve seen it in my own work: a casual LinkedIn connection turning into a project partner, or a brief chat at a conference leading to a collaboration months later.

Belonging isn’t only about your inner circle. It’s about keeping those outer circles alive, so when you need them — or they need you — there’s already trust to build on.
